Monday Blues?
Maybe not a day for researching.
Running Windows 11 and Chrome 141, both fully updated.
Searching from an existing profile in the FS tree, I repeatedly see that the name disappears mid-search:
Also seeing Unable to load from server popups that disappear too quickly to capture.
Guess I'll have to do the laundry instead.😉

Hopefully your issues have resolved themselves already. I tried to replicate your issue if I understood them correctly and could not find any issues. I ran the PID and it came up quickly, the search records was working normally, and no popups using Chrome. If others are seeing the same issue you can report them on this discussion to see if they are continuing. I have a load of whites going also.

See this thread -
It was not just that one PID where the name disappeared. I had used the Find option to locate a profile in order to help another contributor. Two profiles were showing. As I was copying the PIDs to send them to the other contributor, one of the names switched to [Unknown Name].

Some elements of the website are running particularly slowly today.
I took a break for lunch in the hope it would settle back down, but no, its still happening.
Very slow spinning circles trying to load any ID windows. Seeing more "There was an error while reading data from the server" pop-ups as the day progresses.
Painfully slow, to the point of unusable.
Searches seem to be being performed reasonably.

Thanks for the confirmation @MalPitt but sorry to hear you are also experiencing the problem in a very different time zone.

So, the "black box" message I posted above is now popping into view, out of view, and back into view constantly on some IDs.

Most pages are loading very slow for me—about 10-15 seconds. Even the homepage. I tried the tree a couple times…This time it's been over 2 minutes, just stuck on the loading circle. Reloading worked once, taking about 10 seconds, but now I have to do that multiple times to get my tree.
After the tree eventually loads in, some of the names are giving me notices like this:
I click on a different name and then back and usually the message has gone away and the profile loads normally again.
As others said, I have also gotten the "There was an error reading data from the server. Please try again." message. Then the "unknown name" error appeared.
For whatever reason, the records search is working as usual for me, however. I'm assuming this all has something to do with the update yesterday….
Windows 10, Firefox updated. Other websites acting normal.

At the moment, my "Changes to People you Follow" page is completely blank. It took several minutes to load, and then there was nothing there.
And, my own profile changed to [Unknown Name].

I will send this up the line to see if anyone can review the issues.

Right now, the website is fast again for me and, so far, I've had no further errors…

Engineering is aware of an issue that was affecting Family Tree data. It should be resolved now.

Thank you, @Ashlee C.

And I've just visited my local FSC, and all is well there, too. Thanks for the quick fix.

And here they are again!
I think most of us regular users have come to accept Monday isn't the best of days to work on FamilySearch. As I have started - and continue to type comments in - this post, the "spinning wheel" is not going away, meaning I cannot view a page I was particularly keen to check out.
Ah, but its just 1300 GMT, so hopefully the engineers will have completed their work before most North America patrons participate in their FS activities.

Good morning. Unfortunately, not cleared up on this side of the Atlantic. Profile pages are not displaying fully, among other issues.

Ancestry & FMP were also suffering slowness/odd effects earlier today.
Perhaps some impact of the AWS outage??
However, despite Ancestry being improved currently, FS remains unusable.
It would be nice if FS made no changes for a few weeks, to allow people some stability.

In Europe at this moment not possible to work. FS is deadly slow. AWS outage or todays updates by FS to blame?
1 -
Yes, we are currently experiencing effects of the AWS outage.

Interesting to find this just now:
I guess I'm the first person to report to the problems being experienced on the FamilySearch website at https://downdetector.co.uk/ . Probably been reported to similar sites in the US, however.

I had planned to visit my FSC this afternoon, but decided to wait until later in the week.

It appears the issues with FamilySearch have finally cleared.
