Manhattan 1916 Marriage Record - Help!
The NYC marriage license index states Henry Smyth (Smith) married Catherine Brady in Manhattan on 5 Jan 1916, licence #340. (Archive links here and here) NYC vital records shows Manhattan 1916 license #340 belongs to another couple. Their marriage also doesn't show up in search results, even though 1916 Manhattan marriage licenses are supposted to be fully digitized.
Any idea what I'm missing??

Marriage license numbers and marriage certificate numbers are two different series for New York City. The certificates for 1916 are fully digitized, but licenses are not.
For many couples, you will find both a certificate and a license, but not for all.
On this page https://a860-historicalvitalrecords.nyc.gov/digital-vital-records , under the Marriages tab, you'll find the years for certificates at the top and the years for licenses at the bottom.
Certificates for Manhattan are online for 1866 to 1937, while licenses are so far only online for 1908-1910 and 1938-1949.Hope this helps.

Henry and Catherine married at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church on 25 January 1916. You can request a copy of the church register from the Archdiocese.
