Making Turkish Parish Records Available Online? Is it possible?

Hey all,

Does anyone know if there is another way to access Turkish Parish Records, particularly those of the Catholic Parishes in Istanbul? I know they are accessible at the FamilySearch Library, but as I'm overseas, I typically access all of my resources online.

In other words, will these records become accessible online for us to access?

Attached are a list of parishes I would like to view.

Thanks all

@elizabeth63440 I am not connected with FamilySearch

My view is that FamilySearch will never make these available because currently the FamilySearch view seems to be that all Christian records from counties with a Moslem country must be restricted, as the records are in respect of people converting from the Moslem region to the Christian religion.

FamilySearch does not take into account that in cities such as Istanbul which was a large trading centre there were many Europeans, and it was the Europeans which appear in records such as you have quoted.

Depending on how important the records are to you, perhaps you could hire someone to visit the Salt Lake City Library, Cyndi's List is one source of possible researchers https://www.cyndislist.com

Levantine Heritage https://www.levantineheritage.com may be of interest

There is a page Registers (which currently you can find via the Search) and you can click through to other pages https://levantineheritage.com/regist1.htm but I could not see any reference to the records you have quoted above.

We should keep in mind that record access restrictions are often part of the contract between FamilySearch and the record holder/creator.

I make this point because I see that the Armenian Catholic records from Turkey are not restricted. For example: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/koha:262539
