It's difficult to know without being able to see what the record set is, but this thread may help.

these are countries now in the process of having records restricted for the same reason: El Salvador, Russia, Uruguay, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Japan, Honduras, Afghanistan, and Cape Verde.

What does that mean? "Remove the grandfather date?" But actually my real question is, now what? How can we access these records?

@Susan85345 you may not be able to view them through FamilySearch, or potentially at all, at present, as several countries have tightened up their data protection legislation recently (Peru and Sri Lanka are two much discussed examples).

Please provide the URL of an example image, and this Community and/or the relevant moderator @SerraNola may be able to give you more information.

Unfortunately, these waves of lockdowns are happening for reasons. With some, those in power wish to tighten control over the people. With others, they're trying to protect the people from online entities that would use the information to impersonate, to defraud, and other forms of harm.

It's a sad state of the world today. But there remains work to be done, and paths exist to do the work. But perhaps, for now, certain parts that we'd like to work on at this moment, are barred from us. For now.
