Legacy NFS Source information. How trustworthy is the information likely to be if it purports to giv
Came across a Thomas Henbest supposedly Baptised in Eling, Hampshire , England about October 1604 according to Apparently a C Brent Arnell modified in July 2014 on the 31st of July. It ends reason that this source is attached.Edit migrated from user-supplied source citation:urn:familysearch:source:2671361486. As stated this information does not appear to be knowledge that any other provider such as Find My Past. Ancestry.com or the Hampshire Genealogical Society ( HGS ) have. And I suspect that the actual Hampshire County Archives held in the Winchester Record Office do not have them either. Otherwise the reference for Eling would be 4M69 series . CMB Par 1 Pr 2 Pr 3 etc, etc, Which is the Designated Parish Register References for Eling Where CMB stands for Christenings, Marriages, and Burials. And Pr stands for Parish Register number one, number two, number three and so on covering the years from 1538 up to relatively modern times.

The Legacy NFS Sources in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" are not what one would refer to as a legitimate "Source".
.
They were IMPORTED from the forerunner to "Family Tree", being "New.FamilySearch".
.
Although, some of those Legacy NFS Sources MAY contain legitimate "References" to actual (Documented) Records.
.
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in "FamilySearch" regarding such "Sources":
.
Migration of nFS legacy sources from new FamilySearch
.
Where it states:
Quote
----------
Legacy Sources are sources originally entered into new.FamilySearch.org (nFS) by a user whose source box now contains them.
When we released Family Tree, patrons responded positively to a survey asking if they wanted their legacy sources transferred to Family Tree on FamilySearch.org.
• Some of the sources are from Ancestral File or from Pedigree Resource File submissions. These automatically attach to the individual record in Family Tree as well as the Source Box of the user who created the source.
• Sources associated with legacy-claimed submissions are also in the Source Box of the user.
• new.FamilySearch.org was completely shut down on June 27, 2016, and is no longer accessible. Therefore, we cannot verify claims of seeing sources you did not submit.

I hope this helps.
