Has an attempt to improve the way we add screenshots in Community led to a disimprovement?
I notice I am finding this message when I attempt to edit a post in Community:
This is what used to happen in the past, but it appears - in an attempt to make it "easier" to post screenshots here - we have gone back to having the "old" problem if we decide to edit our remarks after posting.
Can this be pushed back to the engineers / vendor for further work, please? Personally, I had less of a problem with the behaviour when posting screenshots up to a few days ago. I'd sooner revert to that if I'm now going to have a problem in making the screenshot "stick" just by correcting a typo!

Hi @Paul W. I've been watching this thread, hoping you would have a response. Have you tried flagging it for a mod's attention?
As I mentioned on another thread about some of the issues in the Community, there are days I just decide not to help because of the obstacles in using the platform.
Good luck!

Sorry for delay in response, but have been concentrating on working in Family Tree these last few days!
As per your suggestion….
As illustrated, there appear to be "new" problems in making screenshots stick, once one tries to edit the post. This is exactly the situation as was found some time back and which the engineers / vendor (whoever deals with these type of problems) appear to have resolved.
I don't know how other Community members are finding things (apart from Áine), but I had had no similar problems over the last months (maybe longer), now the process has become problematic again. Would be most grateful if you could escalate to the appropriate team.

Hi @Paul W
I needed to edit a comment yesterday. My original comment had both the URL and an image. But, I had failed to tag the originator. I returned to my comment, saw the same warning you posted above. Edited my comment to include a tag, but lost the URL. Edited again to cure the URL, but lost the screenshot. Edited a 3rd time to get everything working.
I wouldn't normally have spent so much time and effort, but I wanted to test to see if my experience matched yours.2 -
@Ashlee C. on the thread I mentioned above, I did a copy/paste using the Snipping Tool from Windows 10.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Does the problem also occur if you attach the image or URL?

As noted above, I had to correct the comment 3 times - both the image and the URL were problematic on edit.
I don't like using the Attach feature (paperclip) because that requires the other poster to open it to see it. Many people are cautious (rightfully so) about opening internet attachments. And, if they don't open it, they won't see how the image helps answer the question.1 -
Bare with me guys. I'm going to be doing some testing here.

Sorry I've not been around to respond, but my experience appears to be much the same as described by @Áine Ní Donnghaile. I use the Windows (11) snipping tool and all goes okay for me providing I don't need to edit a post.
@Sam Sulser - this seems to be the behaviour we used to experience but were hopeful had disappeared. Any testing / attempt to replicate should confirm the problem - remembering that you might well not experience it until you return (after posting) to make an edit. Otherwise (for me, at least), the screenshots are still sticking.
