FamilySearch Tree not working after creating Family group

After creating my first family group I cannot add new people to the FamilySearch tree (private). When I try to add, for example, a cousin using the ID number, I get the following message: "This person is from a different tree and cannot be added to this tree". I have now the new person in the tree under the Family Group tree, but I cannot sync that tree to my private FamilySearch Tree nor add the person by hand to the FamilySearch Tree.

Anyone facing the same or similar problems? Any advice?

Thanks!

Family Search Trees is made of of several different tree spaces. These currently are:

    1. The worldwide, wiki-style public tree space made up of deceased people which all users can edit.
    2. Our individual tree space which contains all the living people we have created under just our account which only the user of that account can see or edit.
    3. Group Family Tree space which contains all the living people created in that space either directly there or copied with a new ID from an individual tree space which all members of that family group can see and edit.
    4. CET tree space which contains both living and deceased people. All users can see the deceased people depending on the tree's settings but only invited editors can edit them. Only editors for that CET can see and edit any living people.

Any one individual may have a profile in all four spaces and may in fact have profiles in several different individual, group, or CET spaces. These spaces are separate. You cannot move one ID from one space to the other. There is currently no provision to sync these spaces with each other although there is apparently development in progress to allow syncing between CET trees and the worldwide tree.

If you want your living cousin to be in your individual space and another space, you cannot add by ID number. You have to either copy the profile if the trees you are shifting between allow that and create a new profile with a new ID that way or just create a new profile directly in the group tree.

There is a dedicated group for Feedback on Family Group Trees: https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/321-family-group-trees-feedback

Thanks Gordon and Áine for both your answers! I understand much better how it works now. It is really a shame that there so much overlapping and duplication of tasks and data in the system just because there is no easy way to link up the different spaces. I hope the developers can come up with a sync tool soon. Cheers!
