Database "Hungary, Jewish Birth Records collected by Rabbis in Various Counties, 1789-1921" - where?
Hello! I am trying to see if I can track down my grandfather's birth certificate or a copy of some other physical registration of his birth. On Ancestry, I got a hit from a database called "Hungary, Jewish Birth Records collected by Rabbis in Various Counties, 1789-1921." But it's not a scan of a document, just a listing of a record. So I read the "source" section, and Ancestry says it got the info in a collaboration with JewishGen, but JewishGen doesn't have a database under that name, and when I try to search THEIR site using the info from the above source, I get no results. But THEN Ancestry says that JewishGen got their info from this site. Only that database doesn't come up on this site, either, and when I search for my grandfather here, I find information from records after he moved to the U.S. (info I already have), but not the birth record. And the file number on the record is not in the format FamilySearch is currently using for microfiche records. It's the old number that starts with the year (only his also has the month for some reason), that doesn't seem to be useful in any search on here.
I'm sure it doesn't help that the county he was born in in Hungary is now in Slovakia, but I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference.
This is the record I got:
So if anyone can offer me any help in finding copies of records that I could actually use as proof of Hungarian (or Slovakian) ancestry, I would really appreciate it. Because I am considering for applying for citizenship via ancestry, and without a recognized form of birth record, I'm out of luck.
Thank you so much for reading so far and for any help you can offer!
Jill

I am not connected with Familty Search , and I am not familiar with Hungarian records, but I have used the catalog frequently.
This is the Ancestry database https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/1380/ with description
From FamilySearch catalog
https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/708200 Matrika, 1826-1942 seems the correct area according to the
Notes
Jewish registers of births, marriages, and deaths for the congregation in Prešov, Slovakia; formerly Eperjes, Sáros, (also known as Pressow or Fragopolis). Text in German and Hungarian.
Mikrofilm pôvodnych dokumentov v Štátnom oblastnom archíve v Prešove.
So you could try Searching in that collection but for Presov I get the message "Image Restricted
Image access is typically determined by local laws or the custodian who has the original document."
This is perhaps consistent with the most relevant sounding microfilm, 1793549 DGS4227640 which is not available to view online, according to the icon shown.
If this is in fact the microfilm you require, perhaps you could hire a researcher to look at the microfilm at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City.

The relevant record set on the JewishGen website is "Slovak Civil Birth Records."
Thanks to @SantaNinfa for his kind help.
Many of the records on the JewishGen site include the FS film number, but this one does not. It does reference the volume number of the registration.
Hope this helps.1 -
Thank you both!
