@guy_przytula If Joseph Charles is a child of both Paulus and Isabelle then it is a easy fix.

    image.png

+Click on the Pencil icon for Joseph

    image.png image.png

Add the mother Isabelle PQ6M-JBN and it will then appropriately show the relationship for both children.

If Joseph is not related directly to father Paulus then you can delete the relationship by clicking on the Pencil icon for Joseph

    Click on Remove Parent

and you will then remove the erelationship and the extra Paulus on your screen.

I Too have this problem. I see that there was a similar thread now closed about a year ago. Here is the message that I get from each of two sisters

"There are two persons in the tree with the same id: Dorothy V Wall (L1BQ-7Q5) and Dorothy V Wall (L1BQ-7Q5)."

    The sisters are https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/sources/L1BW-MZ3

and https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/L1B7-YKM I think that the problem is since their mother also seems to be their sister. BUT they are also the granddaughters. They appear in both the 1930 and 1940 census records with their grandparents, once shown incorrectly as daughters (1930), then correctly as granddaughters (1940).

Virginia Marie Kreagloh has a (NUMIDENT) record incorrectly naming her grandparents as her parents (which given her parents' circumstances at her birth, and apparently being raised by her grandparents is not surprising.)

One of the more complicated families that I have seen!

@FLQR Regarding your Wall family. That error message is very badly worded because it is impossible for two people in Family Tree to have the same ID. In the particular situation you have, it would be much better if the message said, "The individual Dorothy V Wall (L1BQ-7Q5) appears in two places in this extended family in a way that suggests an error in relationships."

It took me a while to fine the error message since you did not mention it shows up when trying to enter the source linker when trying to finish attaching a record:

The problem is that the program is not taking into account that you have properly set the relationship of the grandmother to the two women as guardian.

The current way to handle this is to just follow the instructions: "3. If you know the information is correct, proceed to attach." In other words, just ignore it.

The long term solution is for this error checking routine to exclude all relationships other than biological.

@guy_przytula , I can't see the problem with Antonius Carolus Gaethoffs (G4Y3-DCV). Did you get it fixed? Or could you be more specific about what you are seeing and where? Can you include a screen shot?

Ignoring the error message does not work since attempting to 'REVIEW ATTACHMENTS' fails for all Sources that I tested for Alice Kreagloh, L1B7-YKM, Virginia Marie Kreagloh, L1BW-MZ3, and their mother Dorothy V Wall, L1BQ-7Q5.

Aside from the ambiguity of the error message, this strikes me as an error in the database, possibly the result of the path that I took in correcting or establishing relationships. I say my path, since there must be other grandparents raising their grandchildren where this error does not occur.

I have seen unrelated cases where two different persons are assigned for example as a parent, and by using 'REVIEW ATTACHMENTS' I can then select the one that i can detach. My impression is that those resulted from a merger. Since 'REVIEW ATTACHMENTS' results in an error which then halts further progress, this option is not available.

I'm sorry that I did not initially provide enough information for you to replicate the error. From your statement "trying to enter the source linker when trying to finish attaching a record:" suggests something different than what I found in paragraph 1 above.

I hope that all of this can help the programmers solve the issue.

You can ignore this possible error warning with just one click on any of these:

From what I can see, everything is just fine with the profiles and the attachments and how you have entered the relationships.

Two things would be good additions to the program.

    1. The ability to permanently dismiss this error message.
    2. For this particular error routine to take into account the relationship type flag so that it is not triggered by guardianship or adoption relationships since close family members such as grandparents, as in this case, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, or even siblings could end up as guardians or adoptive parents of a person.

As I mentioned above, in evaluating for the presented possible relationship issue, parents, guardians, and adoptive parents are all treated the same and they should not be. I'm not sure I would call this a bug, but rather a lack of sophistication on the part of the programming.
