Recently it's come to my attention that there's alot of disagreement regarding a ancestors parents information in Germany.

Where would you find birth records of a ancestor in South Africa that was born in Germany in 1600±

@JJ Bekker If I read your question correctly, the birth records would still rest in Germany, but, a death record or obituary in South Africa could show information that would guide you to the German record. There are a lot of variables involved. A record can be difficult in either Germany or South Africa without knowing a location and date. You ancestor may have changed his name upon getting to Africa! Was he a member of a church? Church records are usually pretty correct. FS Research Wiki, Full Text, and other opportunities in FS Labs may help you as more information is found.
