One Source Person Records
Individuals are running around the Family Search Interwebs creating Person Records (that little code you see next to a person's real name) and this interferes with Merge. I'm working on a major project and since the upgraded Merge, I can't even locate the individual with Search. Today it is person P9CY-FND (Alice Leona Taylor) and GVRS-RSW (Leone Taylor). Wondering why a 14(ish) year old child would suddenly disappear I began looking for siblings. Only to find a new person record that been created for this one human. (No linked family members, no parents - just this girl.) Merge doesn't suggest a merge function and Search, can't find the person. I have run across this so very often. Either Merge needs some fine tuning or Search needs to be checked for an issue.

@AlainaCallahan Thanks for the message! Could you help us clarify a few things so we can help you better?
There are a few volunteer efforts to create people from sources. How are you seeing this interfere with merge?
We'd love to understand where you are running into problems with searching. Are you using this page familysearch.org/en/search/tree/name or test familysearch.org/en/search/tree/id for searching?
Are you running into cases where the person page doesn't suggest a possible duplicate where you expect? Or when you are adding a person it doesn't find a person when you'd expect it to?
Thanks again!0 -
