Who can help with a GEDCOM data mistake? I think the person who put the GEDCOM info in FS made a mistake on a birthdate. I think I found the person on an 1850 census but no other records turn up. What do you suggest?

You will have to be rather more specific about the problem you are encountering, as (from past posts of yours) I would have thought you would have the knowledge to deal with what, ostensibly, appears to be a straightforward matter. As I'm sure you are aware, any incorrect data (GEDCOM or otherwise) that finds a way to the profile pages of individuals within Family Tree can easily be deleted / edited to reflect the confirmed facts.

If there is any doubt over, say, which of two pieces of data is accurate, a note can be added in the Collaboration section setting out the alternatives. If I am misunderstanding your query, please explain why you are so reluctant to change a GEDCOM input that appears to contain an error, and which might have come from an unverified source.

We would need a little more detail to be of much help. Name and PID if available of the person with the mistaken birth date.

@Paul W Thank you for the compliment but most of my knowledge comes from old web indexing days and insatiable curiosity. All I know about GEDCOM is the definition I found on google

@Wayland K Adams there are no sources for this person, only the notation that the birthdate given comes from GEDCOM data and his daughter is listed as having been born 17 years after his death. 😁 so I think I will give the problem back to the person who asked for help - she is a much closer relative than I to the person in question so I'll tell her to ask FS for more help

When she does ask for help, be sure to have her give the ID of the person where the problem is. Otherwise all people can do is make random guesses as to the problem. From the tiny clue about a conflict between a birth date and a death date, my random guess would be that an incorrect merge has taken place.
