I am having trouble tying the following together or not.

I THINK this is the ultimate record i am searching for as I am trying to find my great grandfathers Italian relatives »https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/about/PSDJ-5T6

I KNOW this IS my great grandfather given location and family noted, and IS cross-referenced to the above but I'm not sure how this was confirmed

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QG1M-46PX?lang=en

and here

https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/about/L263-P32

The first reference has a different birthdate then the others. What are the chances an Antonio was born in Carife on Feb 18, 1877 and Feb 17, 1878?

Your first link goes to the overview of a person's profile.

In the true sense, a person's profile is not a record. Online, a record is the image of an original - census or vital record (birth, marriage, death).

That profile has just the index of a single source record attached. We need to view the image of that record to know if it contains the information we seek.

Your second link goes to a record - the image of a U S naturalization.

Your third link goes to another person profile. That profile has 1 source image attached, a U S census. The other 2 sources attached are from index-only collections. The images are not online but can be ordered for a small fee.

In the FamilySearch tree, we strive to have just one profile for each person who has ever lived. We're a long way from reaching that goal. But, when we find two profiles for the same person, we compare and evaluate, and we may eventually decide the two profiles are for the same person and should be merged.

I apologize if I sound pedantic, but it helps if we all use the same terms to describe the same things. We're all working together on an enormous project, a single tree for everyone who has ever lived.

Since you are searching for Italian records, you may want to join and post in the group for Italy Research where others with experience in the records can help you find what you need.
Hope this helps and happy searching!

Dear Justin, If you could share the key info you have about—like Antonio’s details, his wife, their children, and possibly even Antonio’s or his wife’s parents—I’d be happy to offer suggestions for a more accurate and focused search.

    Thanks!

    Massimo

If I understand correctly, you are trying to determine if these two men are the same person. To do that, you want to look at what you know.

Antonio De Angelis PSDJ-5T6 has a birthdate of 18 Feb 1877 in Carife, Italy. His parents were Givoanni De Angelis and Maria Giuseppa Imbriano. This information came from the birth registration that is attached in sources.

Anthonio DeAngelis L263-P32 has a birthdate of 1877 - which was determined from his age at the time of the 1830 United States Census. You believe the naturalization record found here is his, which gives a birthdate of 17 Feb 1878 in Carife, Italy. This also lists his wife as Victoria, which matches the 1930 US Census as well. So it's a pretty good guess this naturalization record belongs to Anthonio DeAngelis L263-P32. You might want to attach it as a source to his profile.

To determine if these men are the same person, you will need to find more records and then gather all the information from them that you can. For example, the naturalization record you provided says that Tony DeAngelis arrived at the port of New York on 26 May 1905 on the ship "Nechar." Here is a passenger list from an Ancestry collection for Antonio DeAngelo who arrived in New York on the ship "Neckar" on 15 Mar 1905. The dates are a little off, but the ship is correct. It could be your Anthonio. If you don't think this is your Anthonio, you can search the collection here for other possibilities: https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/7488/

You asked: "What are the chances an Antonio was born in Carife on Feb 18, 1877 and Feb 17, 1878?" Obviously he wasn't born on both dates. But because the dates are so similar, it's possible it was mixed up when he moved to the United States.

But there were also a lot of men named Anthonio DeAngelis (or similar variations) that immigrated to the US around the same time. Knowing more about him will help you better identify him.

By searching for other records (and attaching them to your great-grandfather's profile) you can learn more about him. These details can help you identify him across the years, which will help you determine if these two men you are looking at are the same person.

You can find more collections to search by using the FamilySearch wiki. For example, here is the site for United States Emigration and Immigration records: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/United_States_Emigration_and_Immigration

You might also find more information by searching the US Census records: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/United_States_Census

If you want help identifying Italian collections to search, or need a translation, the Italy Research group that was already recommended to you is a great place to get help.

    Good luck!
