I know in the past titles such as 'reverend' were recorded in older indexing instances. The particular one I've come across right now is 'sheriff'.

I suppose I'm unclear on this as well. I tried looking up articles on it, but didn't bring up any that made the issue clear for me.

There is a field you can add called Prefix. That's for titles such as Mr., Mrs., Rev., Dr., etc. And you can add a Suffix field for Jr., Exq., etc.

I also came across "Sheriff" and I put the title in the Prefix box because that sheriff may have been acting in his official capacity for/in that document. It's a legal title, just like "Reverend" and could be critical to the researcher. Same thing for Mrs. when only initials are used. It's the how-to articles that sometimes need fixing
