The person I am researching in this document is Elizabeth Webb, at time of death 41 years old, a housekeeper, widowed, plus address of 18 Abram. The * shows up a couple of times in this document. What does it mean?

@maryrjurgaitis Hard to say without seeing the original record[s] that were 'extracted' to create the register. My guess… the names were either illegible or not entered

Based on other listings on that page, I believe the * on Elizabeth Webb's line indicates the name of her father is not known or not given by the informant.

You'll also see the * in the father's spot near the bottom of the page for Laura Whitford.

Back in the days of web indexing, the * was used to indicate one or more letters the indexer was unable to read, particularly in handwritten (cursive) records

Further research supported that her husband, Randolph Webb, LQRX-5WL, died from polio on 5 February 1915. This was a sad thing that I discovered.

I wonder if the * has any relation to that fact.
