KH6B-8MQ rejecting possible duplicates not working
It lists possible duplicates, but when rejecting one that is clearly not even close, nothing happens, it just sits there as a possible duplicate still no matter how many times I try.

I had a similar problem with a hint that wouldn't go away. It took 3 tries, entering reasons why it was not a match, before it went away.
I also had an issue viewing contributions earlier today - whole years were missing for a while, but they are back now. Obviously some site issues today.

I have been looking throught the history of William Yates and someone for some reason change his name. There are no merges involved just a change in his name which brought in the name of Mary Pipkin. If you go back to the beginning person it does start out as Steven Douglas. At the present time the merge might be legit but the name change does not make any sense. I am going to go in and try to remove the offending information. Then perhaps we can determine if the match is legit. I will start with LK1K-Y9V and remove any wrong information from that thread and then look into who the other people are. I will be removing Mary Pipkin from him if I get to the end and see who this person really is.

I went through the history of the PID numbers for Mary Pipkin and William Tate and found that there numbers LK1K-9YV always belonged to Steven Douglas and L2MF-WRM always belonged to Martha Lucinda Dodson and all matching records coresponded to them. I don't know how the other names came to be attached to the record. I removed those names and replace them with name that was there. As for the other Lucinda Dobson you will need to decide if Steven Douglas and Charles S Douglas are the same person or that these are two different families after comparing the records. I hope this will fix any problems you may be having . I will try to look up Mary Pipkin and William Tate and get them assigned numbers if they don't already have them to prevent any further problems.

KH6B-8MQ was a compatible match,

I just unmerged KH6B-8MQ. I am convinced that part of it may match but not others. Some one in the link somewhere believe that Charles S Douglas and Steven Douglas are the same person. They may not be. But I think Steven Douglas L2MF-WRMB and Martha Lucinda Dodson L2MF-WRM are set right and match the douments. KH6B-8MQ may still need some combing over to see if all its merges and documents are clean and match up.

Please lookover the matches now available. From what you know about your family, can you tell me if you Think Charles S Douglas and Steven Douglas are the same person. That might help us in attaching and sorting out the rest of this family or families

That was me, and I just ran out of time. They absolutely are the same person. Here's why:
- Charles S. Douglas and family only appear on the 1880 and 1900 census, which are the only two census reports missing from Steven Douglas. This includes their identically-named wives.
- Through the 1880 census reports, the children in the family are nearly Identical: Mary, George, Lettie, Charles, and Bertie, with basically the same birth years. And like their parents, when looked at separately their records are incomplete, and when combined, there are no conflicting or overlappingh records. This includes vital records like birth and death.
- Charles has one census report listing him as born in New York and one as born in Michigan. Look at Steven's family: the sibling just before him was born in NY; the one just after him was born in Michigan.
- And probably the closest 'proof': Minnie and Woodie appear on Charles' 1900 census, but each of them has other records (Minnie's birth record and Woodie's marriage records) that name Steven as their father.
I would have gone ahead and merged them based on that, but I wanted to leave it with as many hints as possible so somebody actually invested in that line did it.

Thanks, then all these records can be merged. Take this message above and paste it into the notes section on their family tree. I have not compared all of the merges KH6B-8MQ to verify that they all belong but it looks like we getting ready to put this family in order. Nice work to all involved.

I'm having the same problem this morning. Have tried twice to make the "Possible Duplicate" disappear (proving reason statement and hitting "Not A Match") but the suggestion stubbornly remains.
Grateful if a mod could escalate to engineers.

I just returned to the profile relating to my example (albeit well over an hour later) and the Possible Duplicate suggestion has now disappeared. As suggested earlier, it appears the previously almost-immediate disappearance of the item is just being very sluggish at present.

I have one profile with a suggested duplicate that will not dismiss. I've tried multiple times over 2 days, with multiple browsers, and even different computers. I've cleared FS cookies on all devices, all browsers, but this suggestion will not clear.

I would suggest you check the latest changes on the side panel to see all the components attached to that person. Click onthe show all and track that person from their beginning to their end. There may mistakes and changes that need to be removed or merges that need to be undone. This may be leading to your inabilty to dismiss them.

No, that's not the issue. I'm quite certain of that.

FYI to others with the problem, I contacted FS NASupport on 14 July. I've just received the following response:
This is a recently recognized issue in FamilySearch and has been reported to our engineering staff. We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this is causing, and ask for your patience while our engineers work to address the issue.

This is working again.

@ketherin - c Thanks. I can confirm the fix has removed the problem duplicate in my research.
