New BUG into FamilySearch Memories

I found a bug that I think was just introduced into FS Memories within the last week or so.
(using the web version of FS using a Computer and Chrome)
as part of uploading a file into FS memories
when you click on "Add Memories" and "Upload" and "Select Files"
and it bring up a file explorer window to allow you to search and select files for upload
it USED to be that the file filter default was preset to pickup any
image file, pdf file ( and I believe audio file) - all at once.
But NOW - the default setting on the file selection filter - is only set to show image files
(which means you wont see any pdf files you may be intending to upload)
Now there is an easy workaround - though maybe not obvious to the less experienced . . .
by simply selecting "All files"
Did anyone else notice this bug?
until you realize what is going on you can get very confused and frustrated when uploading a pdf - and not finding it . . .
Please share with Engineers.

Hello @Dennis J Yancey I've noticed the same issue. Took a few months away from FS due to summer activities and have just tried to upload a PDF files to my memories gallery. Images works, but not for PDF files. Hope this is only a temporary hiccup.

Further to my comment of yesterday when trying to upload a PDF file from my computer; I see the PDF files but they are faded and cannot be chosen.
The only way around this is to convert on line the PDF file into an image file. I’ve tried this using the Adobe sit. Free of charge and easy to use with the result as JPG file which I save and then upload to my memory gallery in FS.
I don’t normally use on line services of this type as one never knows who and how the data is subsequently stored and used. In this particular case the original PDF contained no personal data so I went ahead.
So a solution exists though not perfect, so hopefully the FS bug will be soon sorted. BTW how does one alert FS to bugs etc?

you do NOT need to convert to image file
you simply need to choose the "all files" option as shown in my screen shot (if you are using PC )
what type of device or computer are you using? PC, MAC, cell phone?0 -
@Family Bible Hello to you and thank you for your reply.
I'm using a MAC.
You wrote: "all files" option as shown in my screen shot - No screen shot in your reply.
Below are my screen shots of the steps used:
In the memories gallery when clicking on Add Memories there is a drop down menu - I choose "Upload"
This gives me the following screen and I click on "SELECT FILES"
This enables me to browse in MAC 's file library. Below you will see that the jpg file is in bold and can be selected whilst the pdf file is greyed out and cannot be selected - this is occuring with all the pdf files.
Last comment, curiously when posting a screen shot in a post one should be able to use the image icon on the bottom left hand corner but this is not working. The above screen shot images were inserted by the good old 'copy' and 'paste' actions.

So further to the above I've found what seems to be the answer - I've just browsed through "How to use the Memory Uploader" Guide and the post by @AmberML1 dated December 13, 2024. This in essence is saying that to upload a memory I need to, for the moment, do this via the Person's page - which I've just tried and succesfully uploaded a PDF file. This has been added to an album and can be equally found in my memories gallery. So all's well - 👍️
For those who wish to read her explantion (which is clear and concise) here's the link

My screen shots were from a PC
on the PC I just needed to select "all files".
Im not sure how that works on a MAC . . .
the screen shot I referred to was the original post at the very top of this thread.. .0 -
@Family Bible On the MAC I've found the equivalent and it seems to work.
Strangely when adding memories via a person's page or via the memory gallery the steps/process is not quite the same. Having now tried both, uploading via the person's page seems for me anyway a more practical approach.
At least the mystery is solved. Thank you for your help.

right - two sets of computer code on two different pages - doing the same thing more or less.
one broke and one not broke.

I appreciate both of you for posting in-depth details and images and work-arounds to help all our users. Thank you for your help!

A pleasure. Was even able to learn a bit more myself.
