Ability to edit the amended record
Sometimes when you are merging a record field e.g. place name, both instances may be incorrect and it would be useful to enter the correct information at this point rather than have to go back into the merged record and correct it there. At present you can only choose which of the two incorrect set of details to be transferred to the newly merged record.

@Adrian Clark Thanks for the feedback!
How do you envision this? Would you be happy to see a list of source-supported data to pick from? Or some other method?

Suggestion: Take the current situation elsewhere on FS, for example; When we add a source to an existing record and where the place data of the source is not standardised then the system automatically puts what it thinks is the standardised place onto the record and this is an improvement on what has been before in standardising addresses. This works fine where you have say town, county, stake, country, but supposing you want to add the Cemetery that they were buried in or the church they were married in, it ignores that part of the place. So to me the best way of handling it for the future would be to show the standardised date in the merged record but with the opportunity to manually overide it and this would improve both the 'merging process' and also adding information from a 'source process' as well.

@Adrian Clark Thanks for your answer!
Are you suggesting that during the merge we add the ability to add more information that displays in addition to the standardized locations as part of the merge?
