In our research to the family Fischel see: https://www.familysearch.org/nl/tree/person/details/LBV5-DT9 we found the letters of Ruth Fischel; see: https://portal.ehri-project.eu/units/us-005578-irn85801 and https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn85801

https://collectionsrequest.ushmm.org/aeon/aeon.dll we are looking for someone who wants to go to the Shapell Centre at 4800 Marconi Drive, Bowie, MD, 20715 to scan or photograph the letters for our research. We will pay the costs, if there are costs. We do this for a Dutch filmmaker. He wants to make a move of this family. The holocaust museum does not scan archives in order. Our research e-mail address is: (email removed)

    @MandyShaw1 As you can see above, I have already attempted to make some relevant suggestions to the poster. Because of location near the National Archives and other repositories in the area, there are many people available who research every day.

    @ZoonCorbie You might check Cyndi's List for a professional or volunteer.

    You don't necessarily need someone who lives IN Bowie, Maryland. The museum is in the metropolitan region of Washington DC. Many people travel long distances every day.

    The Shapel center where the documents are stored is in Bowie I Read, or am I wrong about that. I thought that this is te region of Maryland. Is Maryland nearby Washington DC? The distances must be huge if that is the case. I asked the local Baptist Church of Bowie for help.

    Yes, Washington DC is adjacent to Maryland. It's about 30 km from the heart of Washington DC to Bowie Maryland.

    Weet u misschien in hoeverre er vrijwilligers van Familysearch in de buurt van Bowie zijn? We hebben inmiddels veel organisaties aangeschreven en we komen niet verder. We overwegen om het NIW aan te schrijven, maar willen dat eigenlijk vermijden (in verband met de moeilijke situatie).

    Google translation:

    Do you know to what extent there are Familysearch volunteers in the Bowie area? We have written to many organizations and we are not getting anywhere. We are considering writing to the NIW, but would like to avoid that (due to the difficult situation).

    @ZoonCorbie

    Maybe try contacting one of the number of FS location hits available by searching at this url https://locations.familysearch.org/en/search for Bowie. Obviously you wouldn't be in a position to visit but someone there might be able to steer you in the direction of a volunteer, a relevant local genealogical society, etc. (You'd probably need to get in touch with any FS Center within its published opening hours unless it has an email address provided; they also are usually staffed by volunteers.)

    Sorry, I have no idea what NIW means.

    @MandyShaw1 We can thank AI and google for this: NIW means National Interest Waiver , an immigration term/forms used by people immigrating to US — here's the link to genealogy/family history https://www.google.com/search?q=what+does+NIW+mean+in+genealogy&oq=what+does+NIW+mean+in+genealogy&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIICAEQABgWGB4yCAgCEAAYFhgeMggIAxAAGBYYHjIICAQQABgWGB4yCAgFEAAYFhgeMggIBhAAGBYYHjIICAcQABgWGB4yDQgIEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgJEAAYhgMYgAQYigXSAQkyNTY3MGowajeoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

    PS. Aren'tcha glad I read every single post everyday whether I know anything about it or not?😂🤣

    Beste @MandyShaw1 Het NIW is het Nieuw Israëlitisch Weekblad. https://niw.nl/
