Why is my view relationship feature on profiles suddenly showing relationships through my wife's side of the family? It seems the new update has changed something. I like seeing my family relationships, my wife's line is useless for DNA tracing. What happened?

This is by design as discussed in this help center article: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-does-the-relationship-viewer-determine-how-i-am-related-to-someone-in-family-tree

The relationship viewer shows the shortest path to a common ancestor with you unless there is an even shorter path through your wife. Depending on where you and your wife's ancestors are from, there is a good chance that if the relationship goes through your wife that you are not related to the person at all.

In any event, if you want to check your relationship, then temporarily delete the couple relationship to your wife or put in a temporary "divorced" couple relationship. Then the relationship viewer should only look at your lines.

The relationship viewer is designed to show relationships through your spouse. It has worked that way since October 2024.
