If you are trying to attach an image with the information, that could be the issue. There have been some problems lately with posting images in the Community.

    Hi @David L. Hurd

Where and when? And what type of court records?
It's almost always easier to help when we know the specifics.

I’m sorry. I had all that information typed in here and when I posted it none of the info posted. 🤬

I’ll try again. I must have done something wrong.

This should answer most questions about the murder committed August 5, 1882 in Harmony, Somerset County, Maine, for which I am searching for the court transcript or court record that gives me what was actually said in the courtroom during the trial. Eugene C. Hurd murdered his brother Howard W. Hurd on August 5,1882. Convicted of first degree murder October 13, 1882. Sent to Maine State Prison for life. Pardoned April, 1915. I’ve searched the following with no success. Newspapers, Maine State Archives, Maine State Library, Maine Supreme Court Archives, Skowhegan Library, Skowhegan Courthouse records, Harmony Town records, FamilySearch.com. I’ve tried looking for papers kept by the Judge, William Wirt Virgin, the prosecutor, the defender, anyone involved in the trial with no luck. I even reached out to someone related to the Forman of the jury. Any help would be very appreciated. Don’t hesitate to ask me any questions.

Apparently the ability to attach photos or files is not working as I have tried multiple times to attach photos or downloaded files of the newspaper reports on the trial and they don’t attach. You can find it in archived newspapers though.

Are you familiar with the new full-text search option on FamilySearch? It's late, and I've been researching all day, but a quick query in full-text search returned the Supreme Judicial Court records on the trial.

Yes I’m familiar with using full text search option. What you have is the indictment of the murder. I’m familiar with that and have saved it to my files. However, as I indicated in my initial query I’m specifically looking for the trial “transcript “ or “court report” that gives actual word for word details of what was asked by prosecutors and replies by witnesses. Also what was asked by defense attorneys and replies by witnesses. My understanding is that Eugene was put on the stand and given opportunity to defend himself and I’d like to see what was recorded. Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
