5-digit Numbers in Location Names

What are these 5-digit numbers that some users include in location names? They aren't zip codes either. I see them in locations all over the world. I've seen one added to the city I live in by another user and it's not our zip code. So what are they? In my opinion, they should not be putting those in there. Any time I see one, I correct the location and remove them.

    @StephenDespot Could you provide an example? I don't recall seeing these.

    It's not some carry over from Ancestry is it? I've seen that happen - not that it made any sense to me then…
