The 'notes' section doesn't show up on uploaded tree. How to fix?

I uploaded a gedcom to FamilySearch, but the 'notes' section doesn't show up. That is where I keep all my documentation, so it's important. How can I fix this?

Hi Judy There are different things that can be done on Family Search. You can load a GEDCOM and it is retained by family Search. You can remove it and/or replace. There are also some new features coming out that allow for your own tree. Once a GEDCOM is loaded, you can choose to the load it into Family Tree which is apparently what you did. Once loaded to Family Tree, it can't be removed but it should still be available under genealogies. The nature of Family Tree is much different than other programs. It is a universal tree meaning we all share. The goal is to only have one profile per person. When you imported your GEDCOM, you had to go through a process of comparing your names with those already in Family Search and ended up with one profile.
The other option, which I much prefer, it to interface with Family Search through a third-party program. This allows to preserve the integrity of my data while taking advantage of the many benefits of Family Search.
You mention about 30 years down the drain. I assume you still have your data in a program somewhere. What program do you use for your data and where you created the GEDCOM.
I will be glad to provide other information as needed. Thanks.

The first thing to check is to make sure you included notes when you created your GEDCOM file. This is often a selection that must made in order to include the notes.
There are often better ways to interface your data with Family Search. Many third-party programs interface directly with Family Search without having to go through the GEDCOM process.

The 'notes' section is definitely included in my GEDCOM. But, after reading more about FamilySearch trees, I'm regretting even posting my file, and apparently there is no way to remove it, so guess it all doesn't matter. 30 years of research down the drain….oh well!!😣

Hi Waylon,
First let me apologize for sounding so negative. FamilySearch & the LDS Church in general have been a godsend to me and all researchers past and present, so in my opinion they deserve all the help we, as genealogists, can provide. When I first began my research (before the internet!) I was constantly sending requests through my local library for microfiche/film, and spend hours going through them. Each discovery was a gold mine! When the FamilySearch site came online, it was a great resource & a huge timesaver. Though other sites (ancestry.com, etc.) developed more sources, the cost to "join" them was prohibitive for many! FamilySearch continues to add additional sources, & has never cost a dime ... what a huge blessing!!
I was frustrated when I discovered that my NOTES section didn't show up, but in the end it really doesn't matter. Yes I do have my original file on my computer. I use Family Tree Maker, so will always have my notes handy.
I'm not sure when the "Shared Trees" began, and I have seen many errors associated with it, but I do understand the concept. In the end, it is really up to the individual researcher to accurately document his/her own research.
(I believe I was being a little melodramatic about the 30 years of research. It was well worth it, and entirely satisfying.)
Anyway, thank you for responding so promptly. Your responses have been kind and helpful.
