Paulding County, Georgia 1870 Census Indexing to be corrected

I'm hoping to get the 1870 Census indexing corrected for the Twentieth Militia District in Paulding County Georgia.

I've checked the other districts and it seems to be isolated for those living in the Twentieth.

In the 1870 Paulding County Census roll, image 811 of 872, for example, one of the people I was researching was found. I had first done a search but it was showing no one with that name living in Paulding County at that time. I then did a page by page search and found them.

I tested the search again and realized I could not find anyone with a search. When I looked at the indexing information I realized that under events for Place it had District 20, Bryan County, Georgia. (Bryan County and Paulding County are no where near each other and have never shared a border.) When I search for the Paulding people using Bryan County as the place of residence in 1870, the Paulding County record did appear. No one who is searching for their Paulding County ancestors will think to look in Bryan County, since they were never there.

I started editing the place and changing it from Bryan County to Paulding County for the people on this page but realized I would need to do this for everyone living there. I was hoping there is an easier way, a master change that could do everyone in the Twentieth Militia District at once. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

ALSO: I just remembered, some of the Militia Districts for Paulding are options for place names (Acorn Tree, Paulding, Georgia, for example) but Twentieth is not found. Is there a way to have this added, since it is used in the Census records.

@SerraNola If I remember correctly, there is a place standardization issue in many Georgia locations in the 1870 census. Thanks.

@MichelleSidhu Place name errors in the 1870 Census are found in many states, but they are different from most other standardization errors. The good news is they can be edited because the error is found in the index. The bad news—as you mentioned, people are not found in a search when the correct county is used in the search criteria.

I have documented this one as occurring 718 times, more than one person wants to sit and edit. Thank you for reporting.

You can suggest Twentieth, Paulding, Georgia be added as a place name here.
