Question about year of record
I am looking for my great-grandmother’s death certificate. However, here in my city, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the cemetery administration charges R$250.00 for a search per month. I have a rough idea of the year she may have passed away — it would be between 1973 and 1978.
I would like to know if FamilySearch might have more "recent" records, and when such records become publicly available. How many years must pass before a record becomes accessible to the public?
My great-grandmother’s name is: Cecilia Gomes, born in Portugal
Daughter of: Antonio Teixeira and Maria Rosa Gomes
Born in: 1909
Buried at the Ricardo de Albuquerque Cemetery, between 1973 and 1978
She lived on Rua Nabuco de Araújo, in Bento Ribeiro, Rio de Janeiro - RJ, Brazil.

Here is what is available for the state of Rio de Janeiro in the FamilySearch Catalog.
If you open the Civil Registration entry you can see that there are some records available up through 1991. I don't know the area well enough to tell if your great-grandmother's information would be in that group of records or not. Perhaps you will know better.
You can also click on the 'SEE: Places within Rio de Janeiro' button to see what other records might be available for the city of Rio de Janeiro, which I think is what you are looking for or any other city that we have records for..
You might also check in the Images database, sometimes recently filmed images show up in the Images database before they are added to the Catalog. Do check each political level to see what records are available.
I hope we have the information you are seeking. You asked about when records become available…that depends on what the local and country laws specify. Good luck in your research!
