How do I link my parents and grandparents ID's to my tree?

I am already a member and have my record number linked. I have the ID's for my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents already.. But it keeps saying those ID's don't exist when i try to add them (But they do) because they are still alive. I am apparently not allowed to link my own family to my tree

Hello CoryCarter2. We've all experienced this so know you haven't done anything wrong. Living relative details are private and are suppressed. For this reason the ID numbers won't work in your tree. You will need to just add their names to have the record.

Hi just to add to the comment from above. Each family member who has an account will have to add their living relatives each account, they will all have different id numbers until they are listeed as deceased. Then you will have to do a Merge of the accounts at that time to make sure you all use the same ID numbers and don't have repeat numbers. This is done to protect your living relatives so people just can't steal the information. It is the world we live in today. See knowledge article How does FamilySearch protect the privacy of living people.

This is the exact reason that FamilySearch has now instituted Family Group Trees - they allow living family members to see other living family member's records and their connections to those who have passed on.
Chose the family member who has the most living records added (once again only they will be able to see them at this point.) This may be your Grandma!
Have that person start a Family Group and copy all their living people into the group.
This becomes a Family Group Tree.
Now your Grandma (whoever is the Family Group owner) invites you and all your living relatives to be members of the Family Group.
Suddenly you all have access to the living records!
You can use this space to share memories among living people and to coordinate your Temple work with the family.
There are several great articles here in the help section on creating and using Family Groups and Family Group Trees.
    Enjoy.

@sc woz I know you're trying to be helpful, but from the OP, it is clear that they are trying to connect to the public Family Tree. A FGT might be helpful, but CET would only be a distraction.
