I am researching my ancestors abode in Liverpool in the 1840s and believe it was in a poor part of Liverpool . If anyone has any social history of this housing contact me . Thank you.

I can say nothing about where Richmond Fair Courtyard was but if you want to understand about the Court Housing in Liverpool then I suggest that you simply Google "Liverpool Court Housing".

Do bear in mind that what looks appalling to us today, might have seemed a lot more attractive if you were coming in from the countryside where your "bed" was directly on the soil inside your home.

There was a book published in 2020 by Elizabeth J Stewart titled Courts and Alleys: A history of Liverpool courtyard housing

An article by the author https://liverpooluniversitypress.blog/2020/02/18/a-history-of-liverpools-courtyard-housing-with-elizabeth-stewart/

Thanks to you all who contributed here . I will get the book courts and alleys and learn more on the housing situation back then. Best wishes .
