Getting help for Italian historical person

I'm not Italian, nor do I have ancestors who came from Italy, nor am I related in anyway to the name below.

I have been researching an individual called Antonio Primaldo (or Primaldi or Pezzulla). He has a historical record based on being a Christian martyr 14 Aug 1480 in Otranto Italy. I've looked in Family search, Ancestry and cannot find any individuals researching him or his descendants. I did find a reference about him in My Heritage but it only took me to Wikipedia source for another historical record.

Question 1: Are there individuals researching historical Italian people? Question 2. What is the church's policy on historical individuals. Question 3: I totally agree it has to be a descendant creating any record in family search for historical people but are there restrictions on Christian martyrs, just for my information.

Thank you.

I have answers to all of your questions. But the overall answer is, you are able to research and add this individual to the FamilySearch Tree. There is no prohibition to researching or adding anyone. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does have certain policies about submitting names for temple work…see this link: Who You Can Submit for Temple Ordinances.

1.There is currently no group that is researching historical Italian people—at least not at FamilySearch. And there is no individual that we know of.

    2. See the above link for church policy.

    3. Actually, you do not have to be a descendant to add an individual in the FamilySearch Tree (ie, if I find someone on a Census that is associated with my ancestors, and if I can't find that individual in the FamilySearch Tree, I can add them using the information from the Census data).

If the individual that you are researching is not currently in the Tree, feel free to add that individual, and of course, provide good documentation. Unless you are related, you won't be able to submit temple work, but you can certainly add all your research information.

Thanks for the good work you are doing!
