Cloudflare/Vanilla timeout errors on Community - update - appears to be resolved now

This morning I am getting Cloudflare/Vanilla timeout messages on some Community functions: the recent 'Diacritics' post and my notifications list are examples.

Update 09:53 GMT, fine now on both PC and mobile (Chrome in both cases).

The thread Edit function isn't working, nor is Community Search, and the Diacritics thread issue appears perhaps to be that it has a New flag for me (another thread that has New on it won't load either). All same error message.

    Here's the message:

    Connection timed out

The initial connection between Cloudflare's network and the origin web server timed out. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.

    (Identifier and IP address removed)

    • Error reference number: 522
    • Cloudflare Location: London

    What happened?

The initial connection between Cloudflare's network and Vanilla timed out. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.

What can I do to resolve this?

Please try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, you can contact the site owner to let them know you were unable to reach the website.

    (IP address and identifier removed)

    @SerraNola

I was also getting this error message earlier today, but in a very spooky way, it was mainly applying only to this post, not to posts immediately before, and immediately afterwards. In fact this is the first time today I have been able to read this topic. I think the problem should be referred by @SerraNola to the FamilySearch Engineers who in turn should discuss the matter with the Vanilla platform, who need to then adjust the cloudflare settings.

I say this, not with any great technical knowledge, but I write for a Wiki ( similar to Wikipedia) run by a family history society, and at one stage I was unable to edit that Wiki, due to cloudflare error messages, and the website of the family history society needed to adjust the cloudflare settings, which corrected the situation.

Even though at this point of time it seems resolved, I think the matter should be referred on, because having happened once, it is very likely to happen again.

I would guess the problem you saw with this post @MaureenE123 was with Vanilla's handling of 'new' posts at the time, I found the same with other posts that were 'new' for me.

@SerraNola This problem was happening again for me.

Not only I was getting this message (saying a Cloudflare Vanilla problem), when trying to look at Community messages, I was unable to sign into FamilySearch itself for a while, because of a similar message.

@MaureenE123 Thank you for bringing up this issue. We are aware of the problem and are working to make sure it doesn't continue. Thanks for your patience.

I saw it last night (of Wednesday 28th) on the Community (not the main site) - it cleared after about an hour.
