Why isn't a change of name recorded in the change log?

I recently changed a surname on a profile for a "Sarah" from Carter to Varley, then realised the fact she had been recorded against that ID as Sarah Carter for quite some time is not shown in the change log. I scrolled right through and found the name Carter does not appear anywhere. Isn't this a flaw in the system whereby even the incorrect marriage event that had been added (relating to a Sarah Carter) now shows in the name of Sarah Varley?

Hi Paul, I pulled up a profile I know has had many name changes, and they are all showing in their silliness. I filtered on "name" to isolate just those changes:

Is this an old vs new Change Log thing maybe?

Thank you for response. My "excuse" for making these comments is that it was the early hours of the morning when I posted them when I was rather too tired to examine the change log properly! I am illustrating an extract from the change log to show where I have now found references to the original name of Sarah Carter. However, I partly stand by my point, in as much as it does appear that it was Sarah Varley (not Sarah Carter) who married Thomas Wrightson at Bowes. I realise that this situation is probably impossible to program otherwise, as once the ID has been changed to another name there seems no way it can be shown in the name in which it appeared in certain sources.

In this case, I guess I should have detached the Sarah Carter ID and created a new one for Sarah Varley, but there were so many sources attached that did relate to Sarah Varley (most of those in the name of "Sarah") that I took the decision to effectively swap Sarah's identity.

In summary, probably some bad practice on my part, but I still stick by the point about the history not being altogether clear if a name has been changed.

Thomas Wrightson married Sarah Carter in 1812 at Bowes, but it now appears Sarah Varley was the spouse. This morning, I did find some references to Sarah Carter, including my "Note Changed" items of May 10, 2025, where it can also be seen she is suddenly "transformed" into Sarah Varley!
