A I Indexing

I wonder if Family search could still do human review of AI indexing. It seems like it could solve some of the problems, and still cut one of the steps that were taking longer out?

As I understand it, human review is the plan*, but the efficiency of the end result will clearly depend on AI's indexing becoming good enough for substantial reviewer rework to be avoided.

*@Ashlee C. can you confirm please?

I don't know that AI will ever understand how genealogy works or the importance of reliable sources or citations —- example London Ontario is a long ways from London England

As I do indexing review ,Ai is not completely knowledgeable because I need to correct so many things that Ai did, like names become surname and surname becomes name and a place become full name. There are so many errors that Ai did like the spellings of name and surname which is very important in indexing. So the awesome leaders over the new technology about Ai should prioritize and aware about what's happening inside indexing. But I do change spellings, and some errors that Ai did.Human intelligence is much better than Ai when it comes to indexing.

@Elizabeth Roque Andaya- Miller Are you reviewing an actual AI-generated indexing project, or using the Get Involved Name/Family Review tools? I thought we were still at the pre-indexing-project stage at present, i.e. checking the building blocks, but I may well be wrong.

I think we're just helping train the AI right now. My son's paid job is doing that out in the world, but we're volunteers trying to help Family Search. Trouble is, out in the world you have to be proficient in doing it. We volunteers certainly are not.

FS' short/medium term strategy on all this could do with a bit more transparency.

Any confusion btw London, Ontario and London, England, will surely be nothing whatsoever to do with the AI, but to do with the set-up of the metadata for the film that's being indexed. That metadata is set up by the human in charge of the indexing project in question, just as it always was. And remember we had confusion between placenames on different continents under manual indexing.

That said, it would be useful if FS would please explain exactly what the AI is doing as the phrase "AI is doing the indexing" is fundamentally meaningless.
