Quick Name Review

Today I've been doing Quick Name Review rather than my usual Full Name Review. Now I understand why in Full Name Review so many names are wrong and why so many words that aren't names are indexed as names. People reviewers are getting Quick Name Review wrong so the incorrect indexing by AI in Quick Name Review is also wrong in Full Name Review. Maybe it's not a good idea to have just everybody trying to help AI learn, because if the people reviewing are wrong, AI thinks it's right.

Absolutely. @Ashlee C. how do these tools prevent careless or inexperienced reviewer input from corrupting the AI models, please?

But still, AI is doing a poor job in Quick Name Review, too. And I see why Full Name Review doesn't have some things like suffixes indexed… because in Quick Name we can't highlight them and Quick Name never has them highlighted.

oh but AI highlights commas 🤣which have never to my knowledge been part of names!

Your comments are greatly appreciated and help better pinpoint the areas of concerns and how best to address them. As much as possible and as expedient as possible your concerns are discussed and passed along to the engineering group to assist in further refining and effectively implementing quick, near and long-term solutions.
The accurate, effective transcribing of billions of handwritten records in numerous languages is definitely progressing and with continued concerted efforts from patrons like yourselves will do so with fewer hiccups as we all learn and progress.

@barbaragailsmith1 - I was mistakenly under the impression that all the names in Full Name Review (FNR) came from Quick Name Review. That is not the case. Some records are fed directly to FNR which would explain why you are seeing much more errors than you would expect.

@Randall Jay Philpot Are you able to point us at any FS documentation explaining what the short/medium term strategy looks like for AI indexing? I don't have a clear picture at all, personally. Thanks.

@MandyShaw1 This article might help you understand more about the changes to the indexing process. https://www.familysearch.org/en/blog/upcoming-changes-to-familysearch-indexing

For the past few years I've been indexing/reviewing Finnish tax lists. I don't see how AI will be effective indexing something like that. They were all hand written, sometimes 150 names with letters specific to the language and mingled with occupations, relationship abbreviations etc., and all in text form… not a listing. I can't see AI being able to determine what's what with something like that.
