I am trying to create an EE-style citation for a record from film 1189265 (Unterkessah, Leibenstadt, Tolnayshoff, Germany.) Im trying to identify the film's publisher, title, etc. from information given in the film's target slide and other front matter. Is there anyone especially skilled in creating EE-style citations AND knowledgeable about the format used in creating German film target slides/front matter who could shed some light? Thank you.

Is the information that you require not in the FamilySearch catalogue for that film? Or are you concerned that there might be a degree of misinterpretation? In any case, I'd suggest that you direct the German based questions into a German group here in the Community

The citation information provided on FamilySearch rarely meets "Evidence Explained" guidelines. The details on the target /waypoint slides, especially on older films, are also not up to standard.

@Sue Larason - while I don't use EE formats on my home PC, I often find I have to dig a bit to satisfy my need for understanding. Usually English and Welsh parish registers are held at city or county record offices and I find that their online catalogues can be crucial in filling in the gaps.

It can also be fruitful to make a wider examination of the images on a film - sadly not practical on a pay per view site. The initial images of the book may contain useful information - just the other day, I was tracking a relative in Rhode Island and the title page of the original printed pages revealed that the author was the City Registrar rather than an enthusiastic genealogist as I might have assumed from the FS Catalogue. I also had to go back a view the earliest films in that "series" in order to establish the motive for the books being printed in the first place.

So good luck with your attempts to fill in the gaps.

Adrian and Aine, thank you both for responding. You both hit upon my concern that the information given in the FSL catalog entry for this film may not meet EE guidelines and standards. The item on this film which contains the particular record entry I'm studying is missing some information, which I was trying to unveil by studying the target slides and catalog entry. I may have to dig a little deeper before I can fill in the blanks. Thank you also for suggesting the German Community group. I appreciate your insights and time.

@Adrian Bruce1- this particular record/film seems to be challenging me at every turn. I am somewhat new to EE, and the learning curve is steep! I have tried to do some of the things you've suggested (looking at the film's front matter, end matter, other items on the film) but either I can't find what I'm looking for or have a hard time knowing whether the information I DO find "qualifies" as portion of EE's citation template ( #11 - 4th edition) However, I will keep digging! Thank you for your suggestions and encouragement!
