Peruvian records suddendly restricted
Hi everyone, 2 days ago I noticed almost 95% of peruvian records were no longer available to see and download, including various family documents that I know for a fact where unrestricted a couple days ago.
Was there a change in the agreements/licences with the custodians? Where can i see the information regarding these topics?
Example: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FCQB-JJC?lang=en
Thanks in advance!

@Da_DescRai Yes, changes were made to comply with a new law in Peru effective March 31, 2025.

I have been driving myself crazy as this happened to me too, I am looking for my birth family and I contacted customer support here but no one couldn’t explain anything to me. So if I can’t see the records anymore this site is not helpful anymore. So gutted.

I can't believe this is happening... Like the comment above says, it wouldn't make sense for us to be here anymore... Nooo, how sad!

Is this permanent or is a temporary measure?
It doesn't make sense for FS to block records from 1900 and before, as those records don't affect the privacy of any living person

@SerraNola thank you. Do you know if there was specific mention of censoring pre-1900 records? What was the reasoning behind this?

Here is the English summary of what the law entails.
1) Definition and Scope of Application
Expanded definition of personal data: It now includes online location and identification data, as well as physical, economic, cultural, or social information about individuals.
New sensitive data: Neural information is added to the list of sensitive data, expanding the protection of highly sensitive data.
Extended scope: The regulation also covers data controllers outside the country who process personal data in Peru, aligning with international standards.
2) Principles and Rights of the Holder
Key principles: The principles of transparency and proactive accountability are incorporated, which require companies to demonstrate the security measures they have implemented.
Right to data portability: Data subjects can now transfer their personal data to other controllers, giving them greater control over their own information.
Advertising and commercial prospecting: Data processing for advertising purposes is only permitted if the data subject has given his or her express consent.
