Exciting Changes Coming to FamilySearch Indexing

We want to thank you for your incredible efforts in making billions of records searchable through FamilySearch Indexing. Because of your dedication, we are nearly finished with every current indexing project—an amazing milestone!
As we look to the future, the FamilySearch Indexing platform will be retired and merged into the Get Involved section of FamilySearch.org. Starting May 2025, indexing projects on the current platform will no longer be supported. Note that some projects or batches you are working on may become disabled or no longer available as projects go through the closing process internally. However, you’ll still be able to access your previous work, including reports and statistics, for a period of time.
This change comes as part of an exciting evolution. Computer-Assisted Indexing is now helping accelerate the indexing process by automating many of the initial steps through machine learning. This means volunteers can focus their efforts on reviewing and refining the indexes created by these tools—bringing even greater value to the process.
Moving forward, all indexing and online volunteer projects—including reviewing indexes, identifying places, and reviewing hints—will be available under the Get Involved category on FamilySearch.org. We invite you to explore new opportunities and projects there.
To support this transition, the Indexing and Get Involved categories in the Community will be combined into one, effective Thursday, April 10th. We understand this is a big shift, and we’re grateful for your continued support. For more information about this change, please visit:
