Looking for a picture!

I'm desperately looking for a picture of Avis Leta Hall, born April 14, 1891 in Escanaba, Michigan. She was married to both Arthur Boysen and Andrew Jackson Dennis and had children by both. She died October 25, 1967, I think in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Please contact me at (email removed) if you have a photo or know where I might get one. Thanks!

    @Gail Eppers

    There are many places to look, but the best place of course is to send out a large request to all grandparents, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors etc. There are several Avis Hall photos on Ancestry.com and a picture of Avis's mother at Ancestry.com, but alas not Avis that I am sure of. There are many, many genealogical web sites to go and try, if you go to FamilySearch solutions gallery you might find some choices to help your search. FamilySearch Wiki has a search capability to search through available memories in case someone else may have a photograph. FamilyTree magazine has an article called 13 Websites to help you find an old photograph, it can lead you in directions you may not have thought of.

    Thanks for the suggestions. As far as I know there are NO other family members living aside from my friend, who lost the only photo she had of her grandmother, Avis Leta Hall. I'd really like to be able to get her another one.

    Hello @Gail Eppers. Here's some more things you could try:

    1. Avis' obituary said she was a member of the First Baptist Church. It also said she was a choir member and 'a past president of the Women's Guild'. I would definitely contact them and see if they have any sort of photo archive or could guide you to where some might be. That's probably your best bet.

    2. You also could try contacting the Kenosha History Center or Kenosha Genealogical Society or one of the other relevant groups. They may be aware of places you could look. Here's some Kenosha archives, libraries and museums that might be worth looking at:

    The only other thing I can think of is to message everyone who has Avis in their Ancestry tree and ask if they have a photo. However, this may not yield any results and would take a fair amount of time. https://www.ancestry.com/search/categories/42/?name=Avis+Leta_Hall&birth=1891_Escanaba-Delta-Michigan-United+States&death=1967&child=Ronald+E_Dennis&count=50&father=Elbridge+S_Hall&gender=f&mother=Emily+Lenora_Salley&name_x=1&searchMode=advanced&spouse=Andrew+J._Dennis

    Thank you for the obituary link! I hadn't even found that, since I'm not on Ancestry. I will check out those resources.
