Family Tree Mobile app setup

We had a class today on adding memories to Family Tree with the website and mobile apps. We had a non-member in class who attempted to set up a non-member account using the app. She selected non-member but the next screen required the membership number to move on.
Does she need to set up an account at the FamilySearch website to allow her to log into the Family Tree app? If not, what do we need to do to set up the account with the app?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Good morning. Yes you need a FamilySearch account to uses the mobile app for Family Tree.
You can create an account using your Google, Facebook, Apple account, or you can create an account using your own user name and password. Then you should have access to all of the available apps and web sites.

At one point she would have been prompted to enter a membership number if she had one, but it is not required. She is welcome to skip that step.

No, the account creation can be done entirely on the mobile app. It sounds like she may have gotten stuck on the option to enter a membership number, but if she moves past that, she should be able to finish account creation and sign in. Using Google, Facebook, or Apple is simpler and recommended.
