Are you trying to make the notification bell stop displaying a red number, or something similar, so you can tell when something new has arrived?

What I do in order to at least clear the field of "new" notifications is to click on my profile icon, then click on my profile name, and underneath the large picture on the right, there's a list of items, Activity, Notifications, Moderations, etc.

I click on Notifications to see all of them, and it at least marks everything as having been read, so a little number no longer shows on the bell on the upper right.

Also, if you click on the bell in the upper right, there's an icon with 3 lines that allows access to Notification Preferences. You can alter which notifications you receive, and if you want to be emailed or simply have it show here on your account.

Another way to clear the field, in a manner of speaking.

The "Mark All Read" has been broken for a few days. See:
