How does this sight have so many conflicting resources?
I have tried time and time again to correct the people in my tree. There is so much conflicting information it makes it very difficult to correct the false or misplaces information. I get very frustrated with this site because of this very reason. If people would take the time to actually look at dates, places, and the actual correct names of individuals maybe more of the resources would actually fit with the people. I take the time to go through and correct information that has been put in incorrectly, yet the wrong information still floats around and people add it to my tree which again frustrates me because I spend hours trying to correct my tree before adding more information. I mean what's the point if people are not going to pay close attention to the resources? I have found that at least 8 out of 10 resources that are digitally added have misspelled names and if there is more than one date on the resource the wrong date gets picked over the correct one. I get so upset with this I have to walk away from it and I never get very far. I for one would like my information to be correct or as correct as I possibly can get it. It is so frustrating because other people can work on your tree because it is a community tree and people don't care if they have the correct information.
Also things like my greatgrandfather having been married 4 times makes it difficult because a step parent could be put in as the actual parent when they were not the correct parent to the actual child. I come to this site when I am trying to find new info I don't already have, but get so frustrated because I am constantly fixing other peoples inconsistancies or mistakes. I get a lot of my information through talking to other elder family members. I have found them to be one of my greatest resources because they kept correct information in old family bibles and through their paperwork they held on to.. I was stuck for 4 years on which John Martin was married to Hanna because there were so many different middle initials or no middle initials in the information. I finally found out the correct one through my 83 year old second cousin who had pictures and names on the pictures with dates and had some information wrote down. I just wish people would care as much as I do at having the correct information so as to not confuse people who are newer at this. How can this be changed? How can we get the information to be more consistently correct?

These types of issues with Family Tree profiles are largely what the Data Quality Score work has been focused on. Have you found it to help at all? You may like to get involved with its Community Group.

This is unfortunately what happens when there is "One worldwide" family tree. A lot of people set up their tree on one of the other genealogy sites that is private so only then can add/change/delete. They use FamilySearch for records, but put their ancestors on their own private tree.
