In the year of Christ eighteen hundred seventy-one, the thirteenth of December, evening eight fifteen, according to credible notice given, to the here-residing citizen of Melbach in the district of Friedberg and master tailor? Philipp Ludwig Döpp, protestant confession, from his wife, Margaretha, born (maiden name) Fischer, Catholic confession, the second child, the second son was born, who on the twenty-fourth of January, eighteen hundred seventy-two was baptized, whereby he received the name Jakob Richard.
Baptism sponsor was Jakob ? Fischer, Cigar? Worker at this time? living at Frankfurt am Main, citizen of Sossenheim by Höchst am Main (both right there on the west of Frankfurt, use Google maps) in the Kingdom of Prussia. He was, however absent and was represented by the midwife, Helene Müller born Hautz, who, along with the father signed this record. Then a little more official jargon.
. This is a familiar form for this time period. I wish I could do better. Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks. Neva Johnstun (email removed)
