Metadata error

I had to correct many profiles due to Metadata errors made by the Indexing "department"

Three parishes

Irsch, Saarburg, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland

The hints/indexes tagged films/images as Irsch, Bitburg, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland

This is very very wrong as the images show it is Saarburg. Bitburg one is way further north. I check every entry when it is shown as Irsch, Bitburg instead of Irsch, Saarburg

Same for Losheim, Merzig, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland. tagged as Losheim, Hellenthal, Malmedy, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland

@W D Samuelsen contact me please I have the film #'s for the metadata errors for Irsch. Can you send a link to an example for Losheim. It seems to come up correctly in search results for me.

There is one major problem and it isn't metadata issue for this one

Practically every extracted entries from this particular set https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/83068

which is Katholische Kirche Sankt Nikolaus Greimerath (Kr. Saarburg)

    is indexed as

Sankt Nikolaus, Sankt Nikolas, Saarbrücken, Rhein, Preußen, Deutschland

100 percent error. I had to come to the FamilySearch Library to track down this very glaring error in order to report this because the indexed entries were NOT linked to images. Somebody goofed.

This drove me crazy since so many of my folks are in Greimerath, which is 42.37 km (26.327497 miles) as birds would fly straight line. (by car it's 66.2 km (41.13477 miles)

Absolutely NO WAY everybody move from Greimerath to Saarbrucken just to get baptized, married, died or even buried !!!

@W D Samuelsen contact me please Thank you for making the trip to the library to verify this error. This is another example of the name of the church—for which there is no standardized place name, computer matched to a village of the same name. It does appear to be 100 percent incorrectly auto-standardized.

There are other items from other parishes on this film that seem to be correct in search results. I will report this as DGS 8113128, Items 3-5. Again, thank you for your diligence in checking the actual film as it would otherwise not have been discovered.

Working for a friend of mine

    discovered a glaring error.

    Entries indexed as

Rohrbach, Balde, Wittgenstein, Westfalen, Preußen, Deutschland

Should be Rohrbach, Heidelberg, Baden, Deutschland

    Metadata or Indexing error?

    Film 102154914 is specific issue.

Found what has to be most glaring one.

This particular film data shows Kastel in St. Wendel. (in what is now Saarland)

That is Kastel, Nonnweiler, Sankt Wendel

Every record Indexed as Kastel, Trier. This is very different Kastel.

    Film number is https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSTT-1YDN?lang=en&i=1&cc=2790268

Compounding the error is the catalog got it wrong for this particular one.

Google shows this Kastel, 66620 Nonnweiler, Germany, which is 6 km south from Nonnweiler.

My friend in Florida alerted me to this what is turning out to be extreme bad.

    https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QPD5-62J9?lang=en

    This is one of hundreds.

    WRONG!

Baden, Achim, Hanover, Prussia, Germany (this place is a dorf called Baden, way way up north)

    Correct:

    Unteröwisheim, Unteröwisheim, Baden, Preußen

Please fix the metadata before the mass acceptance of this glaring error.

It's hard to keep up with the mislabeling of German church books. The errors would not be found without researchers who understand the jurisdictions, so thank you.
