Someone Has Screwed up a Tree
Someone had Abigail Gammon listed as Abigail Gannon (9HFB-53P) and I fixed it. But because of this mess up with her last name, it made all her ancestors wrong. Meaning her father and mother and so on. I have fixed some as they did not have lengthy branches. But these two are incredibly long: Stephen Lowell : 2H4Z-34Q and his wife Agnes Nancy Ann Bolton : 2Z3S-P6K
I know the ancestral lines for these two, but is there an easier way than merging the correct ancestors into their respective spots for their parents, grandparents and so forth? Because of the Gammon vs Gannon error, it has screwed up a long tree branch. I was hoping once you fix the parents and maybe the grandparents, the rest would just fall into place. Unlike, ancestry.com you cannot delete a generation and start over.

I have not looked at the tree, but generally when you have a situation where someone is linked to the wrong parents, you do not need to and should not change the parent, then the grandparents, and so on into different people. you should just delete the relationship between the person and the incorrect parents then go put that person with the correct parents. See:
You should not need to touch anyone in that long branch of ancestry or in the shorter ones.

If I read the message correctly, it's not the wrong parents but a spelling error on the entire family.

I was concerned about the comments about merging in the correct ancestors or just deleting generations. I don't think it's just a spelling error since the long branch is that for Stephen Lowell and Agnes Boulten.

@Drew Beedy I did take a look and made some modifications. You may want to review as it was pretty convoluted and a good chance still may not be quite right

Hello this is loosely related to a question which I've just posted with the title "What is a child's correct name" and contains two parts. The second part refers to a person's names having different spellings depending on what document you refer to - Gammall, Gemmell, Gemmel.
