Restricted URLs in Chicago Manual of Style and Evidence Explained website citations.
I’m not sure where to ask this. I uploaded a PDF to Memories. The PDF had clipped newspaper articles from a website and citations for the images. The citations contained URLs, as is the rule to avoid plagiarism when citing a website. However, FamilySearch Data Administration restricted the PDF because the citations contained URLs. I was referred to the FamilySearch Upload Guidelines and Policies about URLs and that “content MAY NOT contain links to outside websites (i.e. no URLs).” I was given instructions on how to put citations on the Sources page. I questioned how this works when a proof argument/research report is added to the tree. Reports will cite several websites, and those citations will contain URLs. The reply was, “We understand adding URLs is part of the research process. However, because of our Upload Guidelines and Policies, the document cannot be added. This is why adding all this information to sources is the best option. Then people can click on the link and see the image.”
Other than Memories, is there a place on FamilySearch to put a proof argument/research report that will not be restricted due to using URLs in citations? I’m unsure how to create a footnote in a report using the Sources page.
Thank you

Maybe this idea might work for you. I often use the “Collaborate” tool, found in the header right next to Sources and Memories when you are on a Person Page.
From there, I can “Add a Note,” and if that note is important, you can even check mark the box to make it an “Alert Note”…which then generates an Alert notice on the Persons Page.

Thank you, AmberML1. The Alert notice is a new option that I haven't tried. I'll have to try it out on another person's page. Another user was kind enough to already add an alert notice to my proof argument that was placed in Memories. Is it possible that a proof argument/research report won't be restricted if the alert notice is in place?

Glad this is an idea that can help you….However, adding an alert notice will NOT stop a restriction. It's purpose is only to alert users to the additional, important work that has been done on an individual.
It does sound like you are truly trying to complete good, honest research, and that you are committed to this work. In the end, though, all we can do is try our best. You might simple have to redact your report.
Best wishes!
