Adding my own spouse to the family tree

I just got married and I am trying to figure out how to add my spouse to my family tree. My mother and father are selected together on my family tree and they are both alive. It says to add spouse but I put in his ID number for his family tree and it will pop up saying "couldn't find". Is there a reason I can't or do I need to do it a different way? Thank you in advance

Records of living people are unique to the account that created them. You cannot use his ID from his tree as that record is unique to his account. You will need to create a new record on your account.
