We are having a ‘Gathering” in June 2025 and I need to. be able to do a look up for specific people.
Is there anyway of being able to search and find people who connect to the original couple. There will be, for example, a possible 20 John Smalls over 10 generations and I need to be able to locate them on the day of the family 'get-to-gether’.

You are able to go into FamilySearch and do a search by Name. There are also options to search within a certain date range. When I just tried I was able to bring up 260,932 records. Will take some time as many of these records are for the same John Small. Does that help?

Thank you. That is the problem. I am doing look ups while at the ‘Gathering’ and don’t have time to do ‘long’ look ups as last year I had a queue of people wanting to find how they are connnecting through the families to modern day cousins.
I don’t have time between now and 28 June to input the whole 700+ people into a databse like Roots Magic , etc. I was hoping to use the Decesdancy format to keep tabs on any additions by others, and be able to look up the descendants in Alphabetical, birthdate and death date order - then It will cut down the search time.
Thank you for your suggestion.

Could you not do an import into RootsMagic (or similar tool) and then search that? You don't need to enter anything manually, just specify the relevant oldest ancestor and RM will pull the data for you. Then you don't even need an internet connection on the day.

Have you thought of using the Family Tree app and Relatives Around Me? If everyone turns the app on and looks at Relatives Around Me it shows your connections to each other.

Thank you. There are no members of the church attending the 'gathering' except myself. I tried last year to encourage people to join FamilySearch and 2 non-members did join - they may be coming in June, but we know how they fit onto the tree.
Thank you for your suggestions, but unfortunately, if I need an index of names and dates - I think I will still need bite the bullet and input every name into a family history program. Here goes work and sleep until July! Lol!

I use RM (largely imported from FSFT) for exactly a sortable list of names and dates, though for a completely different purpose.

Hi Mandy
Thanks for your thoughts. I know I should have put the information of the family onto a static DB program, but I was working with a cousin on Ancestry - and I was on FamilySearch last year - on the phone every day for over 4 months before she became ill - checking we had the same information and adding sources.
I didn’t get time or opportunity to enter onto any other program. My cousin has not been able to use a computer often since her illness and I don’t have access to her Ancestry account where I would have been able to take a Gedcom. of her tree.
Our family are Romany Gipsy and Fairground families.
Many thanks,
Margaret
