Direct Ancestor search on my tree

While going down branches, back and forth, up and down, I located a direct ancestor who was famous back in 1066 ad. I tried to find him again - but there are now even more branches on my tree and, although I tried going down the rabbit hole for a while, I gave up. Is there a way to search my tree for a specific direct ancestor? Thanks ! 😀

Can you find him on the famous relatives?

Thank you LaRue - Yes I can find him there - but not where he is in my tree. I even know his ID number because I took a screen shot a few years back. If I can find him in my tree, I can go forward and see which branch he is on. (William the Conquerer)

The Famous Relatives connection can change when contributors add/change/remove connections. You may no longer show as related to William.

Does View Relationship not give you any clues? (I think its 15 generation limit is no longer in place.)

@gloriabogen While it sounds like a great idea to be able to search up your tree for someone, because it is an interconnected tree it searching 'my tree' becomes the same as searching in the entire FamilySearch Tree since. I think the answers above should help you to understand better why you can't find him in your tree (changes to relationships in the tree) and how to see your relationship to him using the View My Relationship tool from that ID's profile page.
