We had a visitor from a Search Center in Utah who said monthly attendance reports were no longer needed since the computer systems keep track of uptimes. I don't believe this is true, but my Director wants me to ask. Are monthly attendance reports still needed?

This question came up, last week, during our monthly Center Chatter meeting with FSC Coordinators. We were told that we still submit monthly reports. If your visitor was from one of the large regional FSC centers, than I believe they operate a little differently than the smaller centers do.

Monthly attendance reports ARE still required. The rumor that they were no longer required has been going around for quite a while. It's just THAT - a RUMOR. Please continue to submit them.

It is possible to gather information regarding the hours of computer useage via internet connection. However, the monthly report gathers information regarding type of visitors, such as "First time visitors", etc. It also allows the Coordinator to add notes and communications regarding events they may have sponsored and/or problems they may encounter.

Hi @jbuckaroo I've sent you a message regarding this issue. Could you kindly check it for me? Looking forward hearing your response. Thank you.

I guess the RUMOR just needed some time to "finish baking". Now when you access the monthly report page it says, "Monthly reports will be phased out soon and will no longer be required." According to the last Tech Talk meeting, the report system will be taken down around June 10th, but this date could be subject to change.

The data gathered by the computer monitoring software on your FSC computers gives FamilySearch all of the data they need on computer usage to determine computer replacements. No other reporting will be required by FamilySearch after the May reports are submitted, unless further changes are announced.

This change with FamilySearch reporting does not affect any reporting you have been doing with your local priesthood representatives (high counselor over Temple & Family History, stake presidency, etc.).

That was quick. The FamilySearch Monthly Report page now says:
"Monthly reports are no longer required or accepted. This form has been permanently disabled."
This was confirmed in the Tech Support online meeting tonight. If your Stake still requires reports regarding the type of patrons using your Center, you will need to provide that directly to the Stake rather than through the monthly report. Because of that, we are still requiring our sign-in sheets for the Center to get that information; just not reporting it on the monthly report.

What will be the process to "prove" we need more computers if they don't know how many people are on laptops or waiting to use a computer? Obviously they can tell if all the computers are being used but it doesn't show a need just based on that usage alone. I can't attend the Wednesday meetings so I don't keep in the loop very well.

It is still recommended that each Coordinator keep their own stats. Their Stake President and Stake High Council rep can and should assist in the decision to order additional equipment. The article you posted defines the method to order, if it's deemed a priority. Only by proving a need can the need be fulfilled.
