I set the biological parents as preferred, but the adoptive parents still show up above them on the child's Details page. How can I fix this? https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/L7B7-MTJ

You can't. Preferred just sets which set of parents appears on pedigree charts. It looks like multiple sets of parents sort the same way that multiple spouses do, that is by marriage date of the couple. Looking at your example, it is very clear which set of parents are the adoptive and which are biological.

Thanks. I wish that FS could find a technical solution to it, but at least now I know it wasn't something I was doing wrong.
