What's the best way to show an IVF child to a single mother?

There's no father except in the most minimal sense. All of the trees automatically add a father space and I can't figure out how to not show that. Weird question, right?

I think that's what I need to try. I'm a computer dummy! Thank you.

From the child's personal detail screen, click on Add Parent.

As Amy says, from the child's end you can use "+Add Parent" to add just a mother, no father. From the mother's end, you can use "+Add Child With An Unknown Father" to achieve the same two-node parent-child relationship.

If both the mother and child have already been entered, with a blank or placeholder father, I believe you can remove that relationship by clicking the pencil after the child's name and then using the "remove or replace" (trashcan) button under the father. (I couldn't find an example to test it on, hence my uncertainty.)
