With Mckinnon, I am wondering if I should add this surname to the names Below the next set of names with their own surnames(Below Mckensey Willard, and McKinstry Alvin)

Im just unsure when to stop adding the selected surname?

@Felsted, Roman Gabriel This directory appears to be an alphabetical list. The surname changes to McKinsey after Tresa G McKinnon. The next entry would be Willard McKinsey then the next entry would be Alvin McKinstry. Following down the column comes Ellen J McKinstry - do not index (wid Saml) and etc to Harry E McKinzey and do index his spouse Nina McKinzey

So, the last name McKinnon goes with everyone from Agnes B to Tresa G. The quotes mar (") tells you that it's the same last name on the next line. So, when you're indexing, you use McKinnon (you can use <ctrl><d> to copy it from the record so you don't have to retype it every time).

    Then you'll have

    • McKinsey Willard
    • McKinstry Alvin
    • McKinstry Ellen J
    • etc

(let me know if that doesn't answer your question)
